Casso ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Casso mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
Account Information
- Email address
- Display name (optional)
- Password (encrypted, never stored in plaintext)
Pet Photos & Camera
- Photos you upload of your pets
- Camera access is used to take photos of your pets directly within the app
- Photos are used solely to generate AI images for you
Generated Content
- AI-generated images created from your prompts
- Generation history and preferences
Usage Data
- App interactions and feature usage
- Device information (model, OS version)
- Crash reports and performance data
Purchase Data
- Credit purchase history and transaction records
- We do not store payment card details (handled by Apple, Google, and Stripe)
How We Use Your Information
- Generate AI Images: Your pet photos are transmitted to Google Gemini AI, a third-party AI service operated by Google, to create custom artwork. By uploading pet photos and initiating image generation, you explicitly consent to your photos being transmitted to Google Gemini AI for processing. Photos are transmitted securely via HTTPS. Please refer to Google's AI privacy policy for their data retention practices.
- Provide Services: Manage your account, process purchases, and deliver images to digital frames
- Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features
- Communicate: Send verification emails and important updates
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Google Gemini AI: Pet photos are transmitted to Google's third-party AI service to generate images. By using the image generation feature, you explicitly consent to this data sharing. Please refer to Google's privacy policy for details on how they handle data.
- Stripe: For secure payment processing on Android (card and Google Pay transactions). Stripe processes payment data in accordance with their privacy policy.
- SendGrid: For email delivery (verification emails, frame delivery)
- Apple / Google: For in-app purchase processing and authentication
- Google Cloud Storage: For secure storage of uploaded photos and generated images
We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Data Retention
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account. Upon deletion, all account data is permanently removed within 30 days.
- Pet photos: Stored until you remove them or delete your account. Deleted within 30 days of removal.
- Generated images: Stored in your gallery until deleted. Permanently removed within 30 days of deletion.
- Purchase records: Retained for 3 years for legal and accounting compliance, then permanently deleted.
- Usage analytics: Aggregated data retained for up to 12 months for service improvement, then purged.
Your Rights
For All Users
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data at any time through the app
- Export your data (available in Profile settings via the data export feature)
- Delete your account and all associated data (available in Profile > Danger Zone)
- Correct inaccurate personal data through your Profile settings
- Opt out of non-essential communications
For Users in the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, and Switzerland (GDPR)
In addition to the rights above, you have the right to:
- Right to be forgotten: Request complete erasure of all your personal data. Use the "Delete Account" feature or contact us directly.
- Data portability: Export your data in a structured, machine-readable format via Profile > Export Data.
- Restrict processing: Request that we limit how we use your data.
- Object to processing: Object to processing of your data for specific purposes.
- Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent at any time where processing is based on consent.
- Lodge a complaint: File a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Legal basis for processing: We process your data based on (a) your consent when you create an account, (b) contractual necessity to provide our services, and (c) legitimate interest in improving our app.

For California Residents (CCPA)
- You have the right to know what personal data we collect and how it is used.
- You have the right to request deletion of your personal data.
- We do not sell personal information.

Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encrypted passwords (bcrypt hashing)
- HTTPS/TLS for all data transmission
- Secure token-based authentication (JWT)
- Credentials stored in device Keychain (not in app storage)
- Regular security reviews
In the event of a data breach that may affect your personal information, we will notify affected users via email and in-app notification within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, in accordance with applicable regulations.
Children's Privacy
Casso is not intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in the EEA). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we learn that we have collected personal data from a child, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@cassoapp.com.
International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where our servers are located. If you are located outside the United States, your data is transferred with appropriate safeguards in place, including standard contractual clauses where applicable.
Third-Party Links
The App may contain links to third-party services (e.g., digital frame providers). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these services. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email at least 30 days before they take effect. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
